Challenges Facing a Biden Administration in Asia

After the recent U.S. presidential election, the world is watching to see how the new administration of President Elect Joe Biden will shape its foreign policy. Particularly in the Asia-Pacific region, the rise of China poses new questions on effective national security and international partnerships. What challenges will President-elect Biden face in the Trans-Pacific relationship? How will it navigate or alter policies from the previous administration?

In this webinar, Jeffrey A. Bader, Senior Fellow of Foreign Policy in the John L. Thornton China Center at the Brookings Institution discusses the implications of the new Biden administration for the Asia-Pacific region, with a special focus on U.S.-China relations, policies and its impact on Japan. The session will be moderated by Consul General Akira Muto, who, aside from his diplomatic career, was a visiting scholar at Stanford University's Walter H. Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies. Join us for a lively discussion by two esteemed experts.
